My name is Judy Masten and I love cross-stitching.  It is really more of a passion (some may say obsession), as any stitcher knows.  I began building my “stash” just over 20 years ago with the help of many wonderful shop owners.  Here, in a nutshell, is how Chipmunk Cove came to be.

A few years ago my husband was medically discharged from the Army after 15 years of service.  This was unexpected and forced us to decide what "new" direction we wanted our lives to take.  We assessed our situation and decided to make a move to Michigan so that our 3-year old daughter could be close to my parents (she is their only grandchild). 

Upon relocating back to the northern Michigan area, it was apparent that there was a lack of cross-stitching supplies.  This is where my mission in life became clear.  Someone needed to provide the link between great designers and rural customers.  Since that day, I have been striving to provide stitching information and products to anyone who is searching.  Today Chipmunk Cove's center of operation is in Cadillac, Michigan.  We are surrounded by woods and, you guessed it, chipmunks.

Our family has several causes that are dear to our hearts.  Because of our background, we support the soldiers that are, and have been, in the military.  Chipmunk Cove offers a military discount to those who are active duty, retired or veterans of the military.  Many times we may not agree with the actions that soldiers are required to take, but never do we lose sight of the soldier as a person.  We encourage others to support the soldiers and their families who are stationed overseas AS WELL AS here in the US.  

We also enjoy nature and try our hardest to be as eco-friendly as possible.  Recently we have implemented a recycling program.  We are fortunate to have a great recycling department in our county and are trying to use it to its full potential.  We have also been trying to use less electricity throughout the shop and our home.  It will take some time to be as "green" as we should be, but we have made a wonderful start.

It is my hope that this website will be not only a great place to find everything you need to create stitching artwork, but also a place to learn new things and meet some new friends.  Whether you need a place to take your mind off of a recently found stitching mistake, quickly find that skein of Crescent Colours that you are lacking, or tell someone about your excitement of finishing a project that began 10 years ago, Chipmunk Cove  will be here 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
